Ideal for motivated students who would like to progress at a steady pace with time to explore La Rochelle and the surrounding areas. Students who would like to deepen their competency and increase their confidence in the language can also choose the intensive course.
The course has 20 French classes per week plus 5 afternoon Leaving Cert focussed classes in small groups (1 to 4) covering past papers, essay planning, oral conversation, listening comprehension, vocabulary and grammar. Two dedicated LC exam workshops cover exam preparation techniques and also gives you the chance to practice for the French Oral under exam conditions and supervised by native French teachers who know the LC exam as well as they know their own name.
The classes are dynamic and fun and the teachers focus on developing your speaking and listening skills using role-play, newspapers articles, multi-media activities and group discussions. Homework is given and corrected and your progress is carefully monitored. A level test is taken before you arrive so you are in the perfect group for your level and a Certificate at the end completes your course.

La Rochelle is a picturesque medieval city situated renowned for its beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches, bustling harbour, fashionable cafes and restaurants, local markets and shopping areas. The city was once one of France's’ most important ports and is surrounded by picturesque islands which are dotted around the coastline waiting to be discovered.
The School
Your language course takes place in a modern state of the art language school which is purpose built with excellent including large bright classrooms; a student cafeteria with freshly prepared meals, snacks and treats; 2 large sun terraces overlooking a private lake, computer rooms with free internet and Wi-fi, cookery school and table tennis.
Your course includes half board accommodation in a single room with a local host family. You will have breakfast and evening meal with your French hosts which means you can put into practice straight away what you have learned in the classroom that day. For lunch the cafeteria has a variety of hot and cold dishes as well as juice, snacks, croissants and smoothies on offer along with the chef’s daily specials to choose from. All French hosts are carefully screened and are visited regularly by the student accommodation office and the family may sometime have another student of a different nationality staying with them who also attends the school.
The majority of the host families are within walking distance of the school but you also have the option of renting bikes from the school and cycling to school or to the beach after your classes have finished.
